VARIABLES

I am always confused and mixed up with the three different variables, which are the independent variable, dependent variable and constant variable.

After a deep revision of my notes, I finally understood that:

Independent variables- An independent variable is a one whose values are chosen by the experimental. The values of those variables are independent of the participant’s behaviour.

Dependent variables- The variable whose value you observe and record in experimental designs is called the dependent variable (or dependent measure). The dependent variable value depends on the behaviour of the participant, rather than being set by the experimental.

Constant variable- Those factors in the experiment that the scientist attempts to keep constant. The control is the experiment with the absence of the independent variable.
